We’re happy to report that two of our entries to the 2011 Knight News Challenge have been given thumbs up by judges in the annual Knight Foundation news-innovation competition and passed through to the second round of consideration.
The Test Kitchen proposals that survived the rigorous first cut, if they go on to be awarded funding, would:
- Create a national collegiate mobile social news quiz to accelerate young-adult news awareness, and…
- Develop innovative membership models to finance investigative and college journalism
Knight received 1,641 proposals for this year’s competition, and whittled that number down to 300 for second-round review. As semi-finalists, we’ll be refining our initial proposal and including additional information requested by the News Challenge administrators before resubmitting the entries by January 31.
You would be doing us a huge favor — and increasing the chances that the proposals above will continue on toward gaining Knight News Challenge funding and becoming reality — by offering your feedback and suggestions on making the proposals better. If you can spare a few minutes to share your thoughts after reviewing the links to our semi-finalist entries (above), use the Comments area below.
Thank you!
